Unless I'm mistaken, a Cherokee is a unibody vehicle, so that could be more trouble than it's worth.

ok. so stick with the stock body. i might just take it off to get a better area to work on the engine and frame. and then i could just work on the body while it is sitting on one of my hay wagons i have laying around. (my dads idea again)

Yup, pretty much. While you've got it off you can clean and paint everything, replace all the fuel and brake lines, etc. Anything you can see that looks wrong will be very easy to replace at that time.

i know i have to do the brake lines to the back. there is a leak somewhere by the transfer case in the long hose and when i took the diff cover off i just touched one of the lines and snapped it right off the splitter so that needs replacing too. just all new lines for the rear. the front is fine.

Best time (easiest) to do it is when the body is off. Of course, then you can rig up a solid 19" body lift, too... (kidding, that would look awful)

there is a guy selling a 3 in body lift on craigslist for 100. think ill get it next time i have some spending money. its been on there for a while and nobody has touched it i think.

its new too so it has all the hardware. my only question is if i get the body lift do i need to get new body mounts too? cause the mounts that are on there now are all dryrott and cracked. some of them are even missing.

so i got very lucky today.... went to a local junkyard that not many people go to and way in the back they have a 80s k5. luckiest day of my life because the engine is the same as mine and it was loaded with edelbrock goodies. i nabbed the valve covers. (still like new), performer intake mani, and a performer carb. the carb itself is worth 300 new, the mani is like 130 and the valve covers are 35.

i paid 130 for all!!!! seriously the best deal i have found since my spare tire carrier and skid plates. i literally am giddy. cant wait to get them on!!!
