Hey everyone

so im gonna be starting my install this Friday but i still have no idea what dimensions to build my sub box to =/. I am considering the sizes recommended by alpine but i'm not sure exactly what all of it means. can someone please help me clear all this up.

Dimensions 18x13.5x16.5
Gross Internal Volume 1.7ft^3
Vent Area 15in^2 (12x1.25)
Vent Length 22.74in
Vent Displacement .305ft^3
Net internal Volume (Vb) 1.3ft^3
F3,Ripple,Fb 33hz, 2.5dB , 36hz

Let me know what you all think, plus cut dimensions would be great!!

Check out here. For my one 12" R in my Blazer I put it in a 2 ft^3 box tuned to 35hz.

On top of that last question. Earlier today i was driving on I-75 and tried to hit 100mph on the speedometer but as soon as i hit 90 or 92 the rpms would severely fall. Is there some sort of governor that makes it do this? any ideas lol?

P.S. dont forget about my last question

The reason the rpms drop and the vehicle decelerates is because it is governed. Governors limit your speed so you don't cause damage to the engine. My 2.2L s-10 governed out around 94 mph.
As for the box... Sealed boxes are easy to make. If you plan to build a ported box check out RE audio's Enclosure Calculator.
With a slot port I would suggest making a 2 cu ft box tuned somewhere between 32-36hz, depending on music preference.

Hmm alright thanks. Is there any way to get rid of the governor or is that just a bad idea?

The topic of the governor on these trucks has been raised a few times. Most of the time, the stock governor is set just below the speed rating on the stock tires. Since most aftermarket truck tires are the same speed rating as stock, you really shouldn't get rid of the governor for fear of tire problems at higher speeds.

So it's not a problem of how fast the engine can go without damaging it but instead it's the tires?
