yeah they are rusted pretty bad. gonna use channel iron from the frame to cross brace the floor. should be stronger than stock or even what it is now. hoping to get seats and this thing completly stripped friday. got an automotive tech thing tomorrow where i get to talk to a bunch of younger kids thinking about pursuing an automotive career. so i won't be able to work on the truck but maybe i can influence some kids that are interested

well shop is closed friday, so no dice....
i bought a new racing ignition toggle setup. planning on putting a safety overide that is hidden, so when i have the top off no one can start it. even if they did somehow they cant get it in gear without the keys so thats good. just priced out new floor panels, right around $572......5 weeks of good pay....gotta do it cause it needs it. anyone know any good k5 wiring diagrams. i have alldata access at school but im wondering if there is other info/wiring diagrams on them.

well i had better luck today. woot. another blazer forum member located some less expensive floor panels so that will drop the total down to right around 450. which means i can put the money towards somewhere else. anyone have suggestions for the hidden toggle location. its gotta be hidden but easy to access so i don't have to tear aparts panels when i want to engage it. looking tomorrow in the barn for some low gauge wiring to rewire the ignition. right now there is romex wire in there. for those you who don't know what i mean by romex its household wiring. why you would wire an automobile with romex i don't know. big difference being solid. plus a few other reasons.... also i have to figure out why the fuel sending unit is tied in with the trailer lights. another big no-no. sometimes i wonder who wired this up. they had to be creative to do it . but dang its really rigged. even worse then what i would do in a pinch. i mean at least follow what was in there before instead of deciding to rework something that worked perfectly fine.

sorry for the vent but some people should never try wiring up their own vehicles.....

well im pretty happy right now. today i removed the last seats and the seat belt. the bolts were rusted and easily rounded off when i was trying to remove them. had to bring in the big guns. air chisel, air cut off wheel and hammer. all grade 12 hardware. but now she sits complety stripped. just floor panels exposed. my auto collision teacher came over from the other shop today and said he could make me a new bracket for the tailgate. its "u" shaped and is what the tailgate sits on. that saves me 170 bucks so another happy moment. also where the floor "humps" up where the 4wd shifter is. will be able to save. also i have to get a new rocker for the drivers side. its gone. after i get the panels ordered (hopefully tomorrow) i want to start getting my dash ideas around. i plan on redoing it and adding some improvements.

i'll get pics tomorrow.

i have a really easy & well hidden idea for the remote start location. did it on my '78 LB

i'll PM it to you. no sense telling everyone what it is, it'd kinda defeat the purpose of it.

first of thanks chris, i think that will work. the main ignition is going to be pretty noticable with all the plating and switches. so the other toggle switch that is gonna be hidden will power that board (pics below) (don't steal my truck now though lmao)
