these trucks never had mechanical guages. so yes they're electric.

as for the dash bezel (face), there's no difference because it's a diesel-other than the two square lights right in the middle (red/orange) for the glow plugs & water in fuel warning (would make an ideal location for any aux hook-up indicator).

the biggest thing you need to watch for, is the wiper switch location on the lower left corner (can't remember what year your truck is while i'm writing this). this are is the only major difference in them. actually, i think the newer trucks (that had the wiper controls in the signal assembly) just had a vent there instead-same opening i beleive.

alright i was worried about that sensor... yeah this has the wiper setup on the left hand side seperate switch, which the panel has a cut out for.

that's an easy upgrade anyways, to get rid of that crappy wiper switch down there.

too bad you weren't closer, 'cause the one thing i didn't scrap when i moved was all of the columns i have.

well, talk to me then if you want. but i know there's gonna be some wiring required under the dash.

hmmm........you mentioned earlier that your truck was butchered under there as well, wasn't it?

funny, i think i might still have the wiring harness i ripped out of a '87 K5 that i was gonna use in my '78. it had full power in it-except for the mirrors (which i think only came out in '90).

maybe i'll poke around my stock pile of crap, sell you a newer column with a newer wiring harness, which wasn't butchered, other wise i wouldn't have spent the 2+ hours ripping it out.

we'll see.

well today i tore apart the instrument cluster and removed the old cut up plate. gotta figure how they wired up these gauges. don't have pics forgot my camera in the other blazer
is there suppose to be a plastic cover over the stock gauges? i don't have one and it seems like there should be. oh and when i took the instrument cluster the dome light just randomly came on when i had the passenger door open. loose connection somewhere up underneath. actually got some stuff done today so im somewhat happy.

landed one heck of a deal at sears. i figured i should have some sort of a safety kit with me in the k5 for the dunes. it was originally marked 130. i paid 50 cause it was on clearance

^^^ why?

it's just a kill switch, does nothing for your ignition (performance wise), unless you ask Curtis.

then it'll probably give you an extra 20HP. of course i'm probably underestimating the actual rating, since i know nothing about that type of HP increase to factor it in.

Curtis?...............
