Is it legal to take the doors off a vehicle that wasn't designed to do that and drive it on the road?

There is no law stating that you have to have doors . There are however laws for mirrors. AL state law states you have to have 1 functional mirror and the rear view on the windhield counts. You should check your state mirror laws , cause you may have to have a door mirror mounted on the fender .

Whaa? Tab?

There are 2 door pins in the middle of the hinge that you need to knock out with a hammer and a punch. Or take the bolts out of the door hinge. I have no idea what tab you are talking about.

i believe he was refering to the compression sleeve around the pins.

why not take another set of doors, gut them of all the window mechanicals, and cut them down like those bikini doors you find on the old CJ's & YJ's? i've seen a jacked up K5 like that before.

definately would add to the custom cool factor. plus, this way you'd have a functional spot for your side mirrors, 'cause personally, i can't stand not having side mirrors. don't have a rear view in my Dart, but do have both side mirrors.

but that's just me.
