That will depend on what year of 208 case you have. If its an earlier model , with a cable speedo then yes. If its a later model with a VSS already in it then no.

Thats a 4wd indicator sensor for a light to tell you what range your in. your speedo will always be on the tailshaft. so you have a cable speedo Xfer
Does your transmission have a kickdown cable?

yeah thats it. its in the passenger side front by the dipstick tube.

im kinda curious to the answer to this too. i left my vss disconnected on my 93 with a 4l60 and my trans doesnt shift. but with a 700r4 its not being electronically controlled.

does the vss have anything do with engine control then or is it just the matter of your speedo isnt going to work?

had a 04 ranger in the past where the vss wire got tore and the thing ran and drove fine but randomly every once and a while it would just die on me.

if it was me id just say the heck with it. get it all together and see if the truck runs ok without it hooked up

If your trans has a kick down cable and its not adjusted correctly it will not shift correctly, sometimes not at all. Google 'procedure to adjust TV cable for 700R4' or something along those lines and yall should both be good to go

got the trans and transfer case in. still have to put the crossmember back in and bolt my exhaust up. rear driveshaft still fits perfectly. should have time to finish within the next day or two. i cant wait til shes back on the road.
staring at her sitting in the driveway made me want to put the snorkel back on. youll be seeing those pics prob this week. got the tailgate open also, cut a hole from the inside to pop it with a screwdriver. i need boggers. bad. rocker panels are also on the list, bending up some 3/16 diamond plate soon.

Rocker panels are overrated. Makes it way easier to get the door pins out with them outta the way
