Heh, Remember that not much time deal? nightshifts suck
On my days off the last 2 weeks i managed to get the timing cover replaced properly this time and it seems that the pan gasket is just toast, leaks so much oil the Army wants to invade my driveway. Good news is that someone has been here before me, the balljoints are NOT original, so i can just unbolt those, pop them from the control arm, and then pull the CVs without having to get a joint fork and separate them from the spindle, then i can drop the Differential and pull the pan off entirely. Going to be a later on project though. no time as usual
Oil Pan Gasket came in the mail, and so did (1!?) of the two GM Emblems that i ordered, will update with pictures tomorrow as its very late in the night right now and both are in the truck.
I ordered these to put about a quarter inch behind the TrailBlazer badging on the doors
Edit: Pictures as promised And also incase proof was needed that it is an S10 Trailblazer.
Finally fixed the oil leak, does not leave visible spots on the ground anymore atleast. Also replaced the two marker lights with Sylvannia R192s because they were c h e a p and the passenger side was burnt out, needed to be fixed.
Odometer's climbing ever higher, now reads 222,328, and still nothings gone horribly wrong.
Ran it completely out of the 6 month old gas that was in there and swapped it for some 93, which cleared up its latent starting issues, starts cold every time nice and strong.
Next project is going to be the exhaust leak, and the hinges, looking into retrofitting a newer vehicles hinges (ideally a heavy-duty trucks, since the doors are fairly large.) or ordering a set of stock replacements from DORMAN. all the seals for the exhaust came in the mail about a week ago, just have not had time to drop everything out, i also need to get mounting hardware because there WILL be broken studs/bolts, guaranteed
Got the dash vent properly snapped down finally, took it a bit of time in the nice florida sun (107 degrees interior temp) to get it bendy enough.
Outside of that, still no time to get the exhaust leak fixed though i have identified the spots where its coming out at, two snapped studs before and after the cat. tricky spots to get pictures of but its going to suck to have to tap them out later.
It seems that i have to do each update in blocks of stuff getting done, never have time it seems to post it as it happens.
Got 4 nails in the spare tire, and the normal rim had a blown sidewall. so -
Pair of almost new condition Timberline ATs, slightly larger than stock at 30" vs 28.9" but w/e, i wont be using 4WD on Pavement and eventually i plan on finding a set for the front so this wont matter long term.
Outside of that, Took her on the road for her first time in 3 years, exhaust leak or no it still sounds beautiful at 50mph
and, really thats all she wrote, seems to idle better after that little drive but nothing major has happened, the leafsrping shackles are next on my list as they are bent all out of whack, dislocating the axle about 3/4th of an inch to the drivers side.
Odo Currently sits at 222,342 miles. hope it hits 322,000 before i have to do any engine-on-stand work.
trying to fix the lights breaks the fuelpump lol. not a fun couple days of stressbut its all fixed now.
I also replaced the front right brake hose, since the brake shop that did all the lines did a not-great job of securing the flex hoses away from the running gear, leaving a nice large scar in the old line.
