1993 4.3L vortec - idea to ponder, not for faint of heart
so here is my thought. MORE COMPRESSION RATIO
i think im running about 9.1:1 OEM, i think i want more like 10.5 or 11 : 1 ratio
take a stock 4.3L vortec of 1993, let it breathe (intake, exhaust)
then work with the heads, cam, fuel system
then add a nice posi rear.
HEADS-
im curious if the heads can be swapped with any others for smaller chamber cc.
example - the V8 307 can benefit a lot by swapping the stock heads for 305 heads (114 casting i think) as it goes from around 76cc to 56cc chambers. Does anyone know about this type options with maybe a 3800 or something?
add port and polish, some nice rocker/spring kit, and a more aggressive cam
then adjust fuel system
walbro pump, adjustable pressure regulator and maybe some better injectors.
followed with a tune at the end
Also, maybe some higher compression pistons or different rods.
please let the ideas flow.
And before we go there, i understand this might be a horrible idea and could end badly - but i just want to learn a bit and throw ideas around. maybe it will work out.

There is no other GM engine that could provide heads that would work on the 4.3L v6.
About the best article for getting N/A (naturally aspirated) power out of the 4.3L v6 was entitled "The 3/4 350" and was run in one of the more main stream hot-rodding publications. A quick search here or on google should turn up the article.
