I think he is referring to removing the venturi (snorkle) on the front of the air box and cutting a larger hole in it for incoming air. I would suggest that if a larger hole is used, that you should somehow find a way to route it, via some tubing, to the opening in the radiator core support to ensure that it will draw as much outside air as it can.

Marketing gimic... Yeah... Damn. I knew I missed something in heat transfer and thermodynamics.
correct it is just a marketing gimick. the air is moving throught the intake so fast that there is MINIMAL to no heat transfer for most plastic materials.

Um... Well, yeah, on the intake piping, however, the heat sheild around the filter (which is what I am assuming he is talking about) is of utmost importance. I agree that a heatsheild around the piping is of little consequence.

so i should just cut it and route a piece of pipe/tube to the opening in radiator?

sorry i was talking about intake material. i got a little confused earlier
