Ive always run ½ a can thru the intake once a year on all my vehicles jdaly and its never caused me to need to change the plugs. But I do it a lil differently...I always let it suck it in through the intake and get it smoking real good then hop in and go straight to a high-speed road (which is closeby, luckily) and "blow it out" 
I also never pour it into the crankcase and I only use Lucas in the tank.
