The motor in the 93 is bad. I have called all the junkyards around here and no luck. The 96 motor is the only one i have ran arcoss and for 350 bucks i thought i was'nt a bad deal and it runs.

Yes that should work.

Basically what your doing is a short block swap. Swap all the block sensors as well.
I gather your dad is going to help you with this swap?

Do yourself a favor and fork out the $15 for a Haynes manual. The Haynes manual will have critical torque specs you will need.
I splurged and forked out $40 for a book and DVD on rebuilding SBC engines. Had some good tips.

I am doing something very similar at the moment. I am swapping in a '85 4.5L into my '93 CPI truck. I had to make some modifications to make it work and still have one issue to work out. I'll post up a thread before too long. But it you want to see the pics?

If the engine in your 93 says Vortec on top then it is a CPI fuel injection system, if you go with your plan of swapping the heads and intake manifold over to the 96 motor, you should be fine. What is wrong with the 93 motor, bad rod, piston rings?
