Default Need Some Advice On a 1997 Blazer

My Blazer has a failing engine. It misfires in 4 cylinders, and will sometimes overheat. Now, it isn't in the WORST condition possible and will drive around just fine, but I want to explore possibilities on repairs. Sure I could just fix the problem and be on my way, but I have been hearing a lot of good things about diesel right now.

My question is: What diesel engines will fit inside the compartment and have the same power as the original 4.3? What other modifications will be needed other than new fuel lines and possibly a new transmission? And will my 4 wheel drive be an important factor too?

Anything will help!

sounds like a head gasket issue, do a leak down/comp test. if you want diesel it would be cheaper to sell yours and buy a suv thats already has a diesel in it, IMO.

simpler cheaper and easier to do a v8 swap. possibly a lq4 or lq9 can be had for cheap.
