I want to change the fuel filter in my wifes blazer. The haynes manual talks about connecting a gauge somewhere and finding some valve somewhere. What I have done in the past is pull the fuel pump fuse and let the vehicle stop running and it's depressureized. To pressureize reconnect fuse. I am new to domestics, I have only worked on improts before.

Will this work on the blazers?

I have heard rumors of vehicles costing a fortune to get running again if run out of gas. I have never had that happen to me I just dont want to learn the hard way.

 

Yup, it's what I do. Pull the fuel pump fuse and start 'er up. Well, you won't be able to get it to run, but it will depressurize the system for you. Expect a certain amount of fuel to come out (from the volume in the lines), but atleast it shouldn't spray out at you.
