Default Vin X vs. Vin W

Swartlkk and LastCoupe and any other GM/Blazer experts.

I have heard various answers and would like to hear both of your expertise on what the difference between the vin X and vin W engines is to make the modest hp/torque difference.

(T Series) X=180/245 W=190/250
(S Series )X=175/240 W=180/240

Of course, everyone else is also welcome to provide some helpon the topic. And article links, etc. always help!

I heard it was a bigger Y-pipe in the VIN W then I hear other things about engine internals. Does anyone know. Is there a difference between 2wd vs. 4wd output? I would like to clarify this once and for all.

thanks guys.

Default RE: Vin X vs. Vin W

You ask and you shall received:

ORIGINAL: Tink over at s-series.org

VIN X, RPO LF6:
Central Sequential Fuel Injection (CSFI), Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI).Manufactured from 1996 to 1999. CSFI uses six individual injectors and a fuel pressure regulator that pulses fuel through six orifices through flexible nylon tubes. These tubes run to poppet valves at the intake ports. Manifold setup is similar to TBI, except it has one bore and one throttle blade. Air filter box is located behind driver?s side headlight.
175hp, 240ft/lbs (2wd pickups), 180hp, 245ft/lbs (4x4 pickups)

VIN W, RPO L35:
Central Sequential Fuel Injection (CSFI), Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI). Manufactured from 1996 to 2003. This engine is similar to the VIN X, RPO LF6 except for increased hp and torque. The only likely difference is computer programming.
180hp, 245ft/lbs (2wd pickups), 190hp, 250ft/lbs (Blazers and 4x4s)

The LU3 had some slight differences to the L35, but I believe it retained the same power output.
