Trust me, stick with OEM! The person who owned my 2000 before me put a lower temp. thermostat in it. When I replaced it with OEM, (no over-heating issues, just wanted warmer heat) the fuel mileage almost doubled. Computer was not getting the proper readings but was not throwing a code either. Just my personal experience.

well thats why i went and bought a stock one. because my gas mileage sucks. i just bought this thing used so i dont know what was in it but when i look at the old one in comparison to the new stock one the spring doesnt have as many coils. so i am guessing its a colder t-stat just from appearance.

can anyone chime in and tell me if that temp looks about right to be about 195 or what? it was below the 1/4 mark before.

Thats pretty much where my temp sits also and I have a stock 195, so thats about right. Also when I had a modded thermostat in it maybe sat a tad lower than that but not much. Its good in the summer and lets your run coolero on those really hot days. I was getting to 210 or so and I dident like it and it brung it back down after putting a tiny hole into it. But yes thats where mine pretty much stays, When in the winter its usually at tad below the first line.
