Default 2002 Blazer engine and transmission compatibility

I have a 4 door mid 2002 Blazer, motor is without the egr. I also have a 2 door 2000 Blazer, motor has the egr. My question is, can I swap the motor and trans from the 2000 to the 2002? Will they fit directly or need modified? Also, could I just cap off the egr port in the 2000 engine to make it work with the 2002's computer? Thanks in advance for all answers and input!

Did I post this question in the wrong thread?

To do it right use the 2002 intake and exhaust manifolds to take the egr off the older engine. Other than that the only thing is the knock sensor is different size mounting in the block. You can buy an adapter to use the new style sensor on the older engine. Google that. AFAIK the transmissions are the same, but don't know for certain. Maybe "Transman" can weigh in on that. Good luck.

You are welcome. I believe this part below can be used as an adapter for a 2002 knock sensor mounted on a 2000 4.3 block. AFAIK the 2000 mounting is 1/4" NPT and the LS knock sensors are the same as what you now have on your 2002 4.3.

As an aside, another good reason for switching the manifolds is the A.I.R. system piping attached to the front of your exhaust manifolds for your 2002 may be quite different. Whatever you had from the factory needs to be kept or the PCM will know and turn on the SES light.
