4.3L ignition upgrade kits?
just wondering if any ppl have done the ignition upgrade kits on the 4.3. i have cap, rotor, new distributer, plugs, wires and coil. i was wondering if msd ignition digital box or mallory will work on our systems?
Your 2000 has EDI: The CKP generates a 3X pulse, (accurate to 20K+ RPM) and sends it to the PCM. The PCM calculates ignition timing and sends a pulse to the ignition module, (also accurate to 20K+RPM). The module sends a pulse to the ignition coil to fire it. The OEM coil is capable of 40K+ volts, (secondary ignition only uses ~4K). No need to upgrade, it's already overkill
AC Delco plugs, cap & rotor and make sure camshaft retard is within specs. Doesn't get any better!

Might want to consider having CMP, (camshaft retard) checked, and adjusted if necessary. Spec is zero degrees, (+ or - 2 degrees). If it's out of spec, it will cause premature cap & rotor failure, not to mention affecting performance and fuel mileage.
