Tim, Ken already has a low mileage transmission to put in and is wanting to do some upgrades to prolong its life.

Keep up the mod recomendations lads! I'll soon have a bullet proof tranny! Now how about a bullet proof everything else! LOL It's all about cost & remember lads what I pay for parts I pay for shipping. Sometimes more! I don't particularly want the most expensive Blazer in New Zealand - just a reasonably reliable one.

I'll just stick to the basics for now. No need for a tranny that'll outlast the truck! LOL

I just put a TransGo Shift kit in my 86 F250 4x4 460/C-6 With the TransGo shift kit for the C-6 you get an extra clutch for the forward pack with different steels. That makes the forward clutch pack a 6 clutch rather than 5.
Have you checked TransGo website to confirm what comes with their kits? TransGo has been around for years. I remember them in the 70s.
But why buy a custom built Valve Body then add a kit. The question that comes to my mind is the builder claims to soften 1-2 shifts when a shift kit may stiffen shifts?
Just my two cents.
If I was doing all this I would install a Hughes Towing converter. I just installed one when I rebuilt the C-6. My F250 went from 7.5 MPG to 10.4 MPG along with a drop in RPM, & water temp. Has a lower stall speed. Yet the shifts don't jerk you hard either. Just less slippage more efficient.

I've ordered the reconditioned VB, Shift Kit & 'vette servo on e-bay.

Had e-mail from one to sat the shift kit is on the way.

I plan on doing the mods myself (why not?). When done, I may even try & swap the boxes myself.
