Hi, im new to this forum because i need help on my s10. it's a 1986 chevy s10 2.8l v6 stock 4x4. my four wheel drive seems to engage easier in the warm weather and in cold it takes about a good hour. the four wheel drive will kick in and when it does it stays in no problem but the indicator light flashes on and off untill it warms up or whatever it does. it has a mind of its own. i believe it was the vacuum switch or indicator switch on the front axle and the ball is working fine and cleaned it inside the switch so i put it back in and nothing changed. with the switch out i stuck my finger in the hole and my uncle was shifting it out and in to four wheel drive and i didn't feel anything move if i was supposed to or not. i have no clue what it could be when the four wheel drive works after it clicks in a while. i appreciate any neccessary information that i can take knowledgable. thank you.

Sounds like the front axle engagement cable is sticking. Some penetrating oil and elbow grease should free it up. Just take your time and work the cable back and forth between applications of the penetrating oil.
