'82 Full size blazer tranny
Hey people! I don't know to much about Chevys (Ford man here), and I came across a deal locally that's almost too good to pass up.
It's a 82 full size blazer
4 inch lift
35in BFG M/T's
running 350
But the only thing is it has an automatic tranny, that the reverse wont work in. All the forward gears work, just no reverse.
I was wondering what kind of transmisson it is, or could swap into it for cheap.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Devin

It could be an early 700R4 (4 forward gears) or the TH350 (3 forward gears).

Received through PM:
It really depends on what you have.
The TH350 can be purchased fairly cheap. If you have the TH350, it is likely the TH350C which has a torque converter clutch in it to improve efficiency. If you wanted to keep that functionality, that narrows your window of availability.
700R4's will typically be a bit more expensive and you should be looking for the 87+ models due to the improvements made. These were installed in a TON of vehicles.
Deals are out there though. I bought a complete 1990 2wd Suburban with a running TBI 350 v8 and a freshly installed remanufactured 700R4 for $250. The truck is fully loaded too, most of which will be making the transition to my 74 K5 (dash, wiring, doors, cruise, A/C, engine, etc).
I would say that you should start browsing craigslist and ebay for deals.
