88 K5, needs starting fluid to run
my 88 K5, does not start when cranking. a small shot of starting fluid and it fires up and runs. turn it off and no start, more fluid fires right up. very repeatable. i have new wires, cap, rotor, plugs and fuel filter. I rebuilt the TBI. i do not see any fuel going into the intake when cranking, but when it's running the fuel is visble at the injectors. if there's no fuel during start up how is it supposed to start? the motor is well worn, good battery, fully charged, fresh fuel. any suggestions? TPS? electrical?

Hi,
When you turn the ign. key to the run position the electric fuel pump should pump fuel for a few seconds. Have someone turn the key to the run position & you at the rear of the truck with your ear near the tank, You should hear the fuel pump buz. If it does not pump check fuel pump relay at fire wall. That primes the system.
