Need some help tracing down a problem for my old man, hes got a 91 bravada, it randomly stopped running, its got air and fuel, old man has gotten it apart enough to realize there’s no power going to the coil although the problem doesnt seem to be the coil itself.
edit: should be obvious but its a tbi 4.3 it has in it
The coil doesnt get the power, the ignition module in the distributor does. The coil is pulsed, a voltmeter cant read it.
Check the ignition fuse(s) first. ( or ECM or PCM fuses). If its good, then turn the key to ON ( not start) and measure for 12 volts at one of the fuseholder terminals. Then replace the fuse.
No voltage at the fuseholder, may be bad ignition switch.
Good voltage and fuse, check for 12 volts on one of the wires to the distributor ignition module.
If voltage there, then probably a bad ignition module, they sputter a few times then just quit ( in traffic, of course)
