Default 92 k5 trans reverse/o.d gone?????

Itfelt like it was slipping, check my fluid and it was low. Tried to back up no reverse. Drove to get fluid and wouldnt shift into o.d. Thought low fluid wasproblem , but after adding it didnt help. High rpms before it will shift out of 1st ,2nd and 3rd.

This sounds eerily like a failed reaction sun shell, but that typically takes out 2nd, 4th (OD) and reverse.

If you ran low on fluid for too long, you could have cooked the clutches.

I was wrong about what gears it is. It has 1st and 3rd. I have been told by a couple people that these trucks are BAD about the sun shell breaking. This seems like its going to cost more than what the truck is worth.

https://blazerforum.com/archive/thre...d-12376-1.htmlThis link shows you how to rebuild the tranny but is it nessasary to take all the bottom of the trans apart or the front of it??

If you are going in there, you might as well do a rebuild. You already have it all apart. A high energy rebuild kit is not a huge investment and can make your transmission last a lot longer than even just a stock rebuild and definitely longer than just replacing the sun shell.
