Default 93 Blazer Trans Swap

Hello,

New poster, but I've been lurking here for a while. I've got a '93 4wd Blazer and with transmission problems, i have access to a 700r4 from a low mileage '88 Firebird. Will this trans swap in with minimal issues? I know they may have made some improvements over the life of the 700r4, but I'd really like to use this transmission if possible.

Thanks in advance,

BigfootHunter

No it wont swap, and for several reasons.

1) its for a 2wdr vehicle and has a different output shaft and tailhousing than your 4x4 tranny. You can swap the 4x4 output shaft into the 2wdr tranny, however you have to completely disassemble the tranny to do it, might as well rebuild your current tranny, just as much work.

2) Your '93 is electronic controlled, as in the puter controls shift points. The Firebird tranny has a TV cable to control shift points. Again its possible to retro fit, however its not worth the effort.

Your best option, in order-
Rebuild your current tranny.
Swap in a used tranny '93-'94 model years. The good news is there should be plenty of donors in the salvage yard. Get a warrenty.
