Default 93 s10 trans leak

i have a tranny leak somewhere under the passenger side. i dont know how bad it is, but there was fluid that was dripping from what looks like a black round thing up underneath the passenger side. i dont know much about cars or id be more specific. i cant tell if it is leaking from the part, ot if there are hoses on top of that part that need to be fixed. anmy suggestions? i can take pics if u can help me.

The transmission cooler lines run along the passenger side. The location of the leak depends on where and what is leaking. If it is near the center of the transmission, it could be a leak at the fittings where the lines go in/out of the transmission. If it is near the center of the engine, your lines have likely cracked or worn through. If it is near the radiator, it is likely leaking from the fittings into the radiator.

when i took off the heat shield the fluid was orangish in color. i know it is tranny fluid. there was a plastic semi circular clip that was on the insodse of the heat shield when i took it down. i dont know if that means anything. but, can i just feel if the fittings are leaking....and if i can can i just tighten them? or do i have to replace the whole thing? the fluid was on the bolts and drips when i drive it i see a small trail when i drive. i have to check the radiator fittings again, it did this only after i replaced it. It is also hard to pull the shifter out of park and put it back in. what is part of that problem?

Until you find the precise location of the leak, you won't know what you have to replace. A mechanics mirror will help you locate the leak.
