Hey guys, I was just given a 1994 blazer by my father in law. Has some front end damage, needs new hood, r/l fenders, grill, bumper. But besides that it's ready to go.
My question is: Can I put synthetic oil in it instead of regular oil. It has 135k miles and I want to put another 135k on it. I'm wondering if the synthetic will help.
Thanks

If it will help what? Syn oil doesn't repair anything, but it won't hurt anything, either. You might get a temporary slight seal leakage, but that should go away as the seals soften slightly. As I have said before, these engines are not at all picky about the oil used in them, so let your wallet be the guide.

I don't have any knowledge of how the truck was maintained or abused, so I'm just looking to try and take care of it to the best of my ability. If synthetic oil will make it last longer, and I mean longer then I will try it. But if regular oil and oil changes will take care of it well, then that's fine with me also.
Just looking for opinions.
