Question 94 C20 trans to my 97 blazer

my 1997 chevy blazer is having some issues with the transmission. so my father in law and i have decided that we are gonna rebuild it and put it back in. we bought a video and after looking at some potential rebuild parts totaling a little over $500 we have decided to build an "experimental" transmission using cheaper parts and see if it works....

now.... my father , who lives in a different state than me and my father in law, bought a 1994 chevy c20 with a 350 v8 and a 4L60E transmission. all he wanted was the engine and offered to ship the transmission to me as the "experimental" transmission. my question is... will the 4l60e transmission out of the 94 C20 fit into my 97 chevrolet blazer and if put together right will my computer shift it like it is supposed to? will i need to change out my bell houseing with my original and the tail shaft? does it even come apart. keep in mind we are just experimenting and don't know exactly what we are gonna run into. but would be nice to know ahead of time.

if it turns out that the trans will fit and operate right and we put it together we are gonna rebuild the original with performance parts and stuff it back in my blazer and do some other engine repairs. like rear main seal, front seal, check timing chain, change oil cooler lines out.

any thoughts anyone?

Short answer is no. In 94, they did not have the PWM controlled torque converter clutch. Your '97 PCM will not like that transmission one bit. Besides, it is not a good idea to go older with a transmission. Improvements have been made in the hard parts to make the transmission more reliable. Unless you get into replacing those hard parts as well, you may end up doing a whole lot of work only to do it all over again.
