95 and 98 tranny

Does anyone know if a 4l60e out of a 98 blazer will work in a 95 blazer? Both four wheel drive four doors?

No. The '98 will have a 2 piece main case which is shorter in length (23.38" for the early 4L60E and 21.9" for the late 4L60E). Also, the bolt pattern for the transfer case (or tail housing if 2wd) changed between the early 4L60E (4 bolt (square) pattern) and the late 4L60E (6 bolt (hex) pattern).

so there is no possible way that the tranny out of the 98 blazer will work in my 95 blazer?

Transfercase, front and rear driveshafts, and transmission and hope that everything works the same with the transfer case (I'm betting not). It isn't a simple plug-n-play...
Now, if there is a difference in the transfer case dimensions from mounting flange to both driveshaft mounts (tailshaft extension in the rear and mounting flange in the front) that equals the difference in length between the two transmissions, you would not need the driveshafts.
If the transfercases were to both be the 2 speed selectable (i.e. non-automatic), then you may be able to use your transfercase encoder motor, but I don't know that as fact. I don't have my references with me at work so I can't check the specific transfercase models used in these two years.
In the end, anything is possible, just depends on how much work you want to put into it. I would look for another single piece main case transmission from a 4wd...

Well good news. I did have to use the spacer between the tranny and transfer from the 98 blazer other than that everything works perfectly!

So you used the spacer from the '98 to bolt up to your transfer case. Good deal! How did you cover up the front, lower portion of the bellhousing?

i went back to the guy i got the tranny from and got the shield and put it on
