Default 95 Blazer - Tranny won't fit!

Hi Everybody.

I just bought a 1995 4-door 4WD Chevy Blazer with the 4.3L Vortec. I blew the tranny and had to have it replaced already. I found one on Ebay and so I bought it. It was pulled from what he claims to be an identical car. Also, a '95 4-door 4WD Blazer with 4.3L Vortec.

My mechanic is now telling me he doesn't think it will fit the car. He already removed the busted tranny from my car.

Is there something that I don't know about here? Was there multiple trannys used in this particular model of vehicle? Can anybody help me? I don't know what to do!

If it came from a '95 4x4, you shouldn't have any problems. Sounds like you may have a 4x2 tranny instead of a 4x4... There is quite a bit more to it than just swapping out the rear housing and tail shaft... Swapping the tail shaft requires the complete disassembly of the transmission.

Do the transmissions look similar? Kinda hard to say anything else...

Why wont it fit?

Have your mechanic verify that he has the right torque converter.
I once recieved the wrong torque converter and I couldn't seat the tranny to the engine, the torque converter was too thick/wide.

The 700R4/4L60/4L60e tranny is the same dimensionally from 1980 to present. All 90 degree 4L60e trannies will bolt up to all 4.3 V6 and all Small Block Chevy V8 engines. This isn't a Ford, its a Chevy and trannys are interchangeable.

There is a 60degree 70R4/4L60 that fits behind a 60 degree V6 engine, howver int eh trucks that was disconntinued back in the late '80's early '90s when teh 2putt8 V6 was phased out of the S-series trucks.

GM only has one automatic tranny in the 1/2ton and lighter trucks and rear wheel drive cars. The 700R4/4L60/4L60E. There is a 4L80e tranny, however that is for 3/4 and bigger trucks.

Ask your mechanic why it wont fit?
Got a link to that ebay sale?
