96 Blazer Transmission Issue

I have a 96 Blazer and I think I'm having transmission issues.
Was driving home from work and car hits 30 mph and just revs the engine to about 3k rpms, wouldn't accelerate any further. I got home checked trans fluid level and it was low.
I decided to change filter and replace the lost fluid at the same time.
What a treat dropping a Blazer Trans Pan is haha.
Broke off a solenoid in the process, got a new one and replaced it.
Replaced the filter and the fluid.
Take it for a spin and it's still doing the same thing.
Feels like its going into first and second alright but at 30 mph it's hitting that wall. Like it doesn't want to go into third. It just revs and the rpms shoot up.
Check Engine light is on, had it checked and it gave a p1870 code, which is just a general transmission code.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
I know i'll probably have to take it to a shop, but I don't have a lot of money to pour into a failing transmission. Thanks, Aaron

All the shift solenoids do is activate the shift valves in the valve body that activate the clutches and band to get a particular gear. A bad one would simply make the wrong gear engage. Two solenoids, 4 possible on-off combos, 4 gears. Stick one on or off, two combos and two gears cannot be commanded.
Costs vary, our shop charges around $1100-1500 depending on how many hard parts are required. We are cheap compared to say Indianapolis where they get $2K. You just call around and ask what your local shops charge. Be aware the shop that quotes a way lower price is probably doing a "patch job", replacing only the part that caused the issue. A full overhaul gets you all new seals, clutches, etc. and any worn parts are replaced.
