here is a list of parts i am going to order

TC will be original but rebuilt..

oh the pics only showed the broken drum, no biggie..

ATSG also recomends that you remove and discard the load and release spring assemblies for a much improved 2-3 shift on all models..

Is this a good idea??

page 62 fig 110 of the atsg manual

http://www.scribd.com/doc/3970579/4L60E-Rebuild-manual-

also look at page 54 number 5 and 6, should I leave this ball out? (ball and capsule)

Yes, that figure 110 is correct. I got rid of them almost 2 years ago when I rebuilt my tranny.

If your building a heavy duty tranny, than remove the ball. The capsule must be there either way. My tranny still has the ball.

Load release springs on 3-4 clutch.... I will agree that leaving them out will make a firmer 2-3 shift, but to every upside, there is a downside. They are there to keep the 2-3 from "dragging" due to the clutch partially applying due to normal crossleaks, and when the drum spins quickly in 1st and 2nd the centrifugal force makes the oil in drum "fling out" which will also paritially apply the clutchs. 3-4 clutch failure is too common to risk this modification in my opinion. I would find another way to make "firm" 2-3.

TCC check ball and oriface in input shaft. Taking that thing out will definatly make firm TCC! Too harsh in my opinion!

hello, ty for the replies, i would like to firm up the shifts without sacraficing reliability.. is there any other way to firm the upshifts? or does the computer control to much? also in the atsg manual it also states of enlarging to 1/16 in the piston..

this trans isnt raced, just a daily driver..

Corvette servo, larger boost valve and sleeve in the pump. Increase the number of frictions in the 3-4 clutch. Use a beast sun shell as you mentioned, bore and replace the AFL valve to preserve 3-4 clutch and prevent other "mystery" problems. And a good ol' Gil Younger shift kit (transgo as you mentioned). Transgo kit can be used to firm up, most of what you need. One kit had selectable accumulator valve springs, I dont know if thats the one your getting.

I'm not understanding your, "enlarge to 1/16 in the piston". What piston? Enlarge what?
