97 blazer 4x4 will not shift in any gear
i have a 97 4x4 blazer that will not shift into any gear. if the rear tires are off the ground it shifts fine. i just had the vss changed a week before the transmission stopped pulling when on the ground. its weird that it shifts when the rear is in the air but as soon as you set it on the ground it wont go anywhere. the fluid and filter are fine. it whined a little bit then on the way home the ses light came on then it quit pulling. help what could my problem be.[:@]
I will assume that you have checked and verified that the fluid level is up to the appropriate level. Sounds like the transmission is toast. I am willing to bet that when the wheels are up in the air, the motion you see is due to the friction inside the transmission and that the transmission is not really holding the gears properly.
Fluids are fine. I have been told by several tranny shops that its the front pump. i am so ready to get rid of the blazer for whatever i can get for it. its been a pain in the butt.
thats for a total rebuild with 6 month/6000 mile warranty. i think thats a pretty good price for having it fixed.if i dont get it fixed it i will sell it for $1700. if i get it fixed i will ask $2900.
