Default 99 Blazer Trans Filter

Putting in a new engine in my 99 Blazer 4wd, before doing so we want to change the Trans filter and fuel filter. Can't get the trans pan off, and unsure how to proceed. Reading other threads recommendation is not to do, but I have thrown trans codes recently so hoping changing the filter will work.

Any suggestions on the easiest way to do this? Also, any guidance on the fuel filter change will also be appreciated.

If you unbolt the pan it might fight you a bit but it should come right out.
I think on two doors you need to move the cross member...on four doors...which i have. I never had to remove the cross member...just takes a little work.

Easy job youll nedd a 10 mm socket and 13 mm socket with 2 extensions. To get the pan to drop all you have to do is loosen the tranny mount and jack rear of tranny up 1 inch and then lower pan towards back tilt front down and slide down and toward front of vehicle youll never get the pan off if you dont jack and loosen trannsmission mount on back of tranny attached to the crossmember. This allows clearance of the valve body.and crossmember. If you have a 95 you have to drop the y pipe hopefully you have a 96 up THE FUEL FILTER IS ON DRIVER SIDE BETWEEN DOORS ON THE INSIDE OF THE FRAME RAIL 2 BOX WRENCHES TAKE THIS OUT ITS ABOUT 4 INCHES LONG AND LOOKS CYLINDRICAL WITH EITHER CLIPS OR FLARED NUT FITTINGS.

loosen the tranny mount nut on crossmember and jack rear nose of tranny up about 1-1.5 inches this enables the pan and crossmember to clear the valve body and drop right out simple whoever said never had to do this must break alot of wiring harnesses and shift sensors. Gaurantee it works very easily done with this one addition.

have to loosen crossmember mount nut and jack rear nose of tranny up 1-1.5 inches this allows the pan and crossmember to clear the valve body adds 5 minutes to job but makes it so much easier getting out (drops easily) and especially possitioned right to reinstall just did this on 6 different gmc and chevys all for shift censors and all had to be done like this except 95 have to drop the y pipe. 25 yr veteran

the fuel filter is on driver side behind the drivers door on the inside of the frame rail its 4 inches long and cylindrical and has either plastic clip quick connect lines or a flared nut fitting they cost 10 dollars. If its nut connectedd its easier if not get the tool to connect and disconnect line so you dont break the connectors if your good you can use needle nose pliers to disconnect. Takes about 15 minutes to change. And tranny loosen tranny mount on crossmember and jack it up 1-1.5 inches this gives the clearnace you dont have. The pan gets caught on the valve body because of limited clearance between the crossmember and the pan not to mention the y pipe issue when you jack the rear nose of tranny after loosenning the bolt you get the clearance to drop it out the pan gets caught up on the valve body this will give the clearance you need to complete this job easily gaurantee it 25 yrs vetran JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO BUMP ANYTHING WITH PAN WHEN TAKING OUT ALOT OF PEOPLE DONT LOOSEN THE TRANNY MOUNT AND DO IT THE HARD WAY LIKE OTHER DUDE SAYS BUT THEY MESS UP THE WIRING HARNESS AND SHIFT CENSORS IN THE FRONT OF THE PAN. THATS WHY I SAY LOOSEN AND JACK BACK TRANNY NOSE IT GIVES THE CLEARANCE TO DO THIS LIKE A PRO WITHOUT DAMAGING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. BELIEVE ME IVE DONE IT BEFORE BUT THAT WAS ON MY 95 BLAZER AND THATS HOW I FIGURED OUT THE Y PIPE HAD TO COME OFF TOO. LUCKILY YOU HAVE A 99 I ALSO HAD A 99 GMC JIMMY SAME WAY IM TELLING YOU EASY WONT BREAK ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. ID HATE TO SEE SOMEONE DO ALL THAT PUT IT BACK TOGETHER AND HAVE NO GEARS
