Alternator, battery or voltage regulator? Help.
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2000 Blazer. 4.3L vortec v6. I was stuck in traffic yesterday when I noticed my headlights dim a little. I looked at the voltage indicator on the dash and the voltage had dropped from its usual 14V down to 9V. When I hit the gas, the voltage popped back up to 14V. What could cause this? I have'nt driven it much since. I'm worried I'll get stranded. I've got the alternator out and am going to get it tested in a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I vote for the alternator, but I would leave it on the truck and let AutoZone or Advance Auto test it and the battery under load.

thanks riddle3, I just got the alternator tested and it came back fine. Shoulda checked your reply earlier, cuz now I'm gonna pop it back in and run back up to autozone and get everything retested. I will update a little later. Thanx again.

well, don't I feel stupid. Took the blazer back up to autozone and they tested it. Turns out my battery was bad. Really did'nt think that should've been the problem since I put that battery in less than 6 months ago. Well at least it was under warranty. Thanks for your response rriddle3. Glad it was'nt anything serious.
