ok so i checked the icm and that was not the problem so i did the timing step by step just like it says lined up to tdc and lined up distributor and it landed on the little 6 put back together no more backfire threw throttle body at least not like it was still would not start. cleaned crankshaft sensor nothing... will not start its trying its getting gas and i'v even tried starting fluid the fuel pump is working and it feels it wants to start. it sounds like either the gas tank or exhaust (prolly exhaust) is "thumping" when trying to start not sure if its possibly a map sensor or cam sensor idk..

my question is i have watched a few videos on timing cuz this was the first time i've done it myself and in every video i see they have the distributor go in and the rotor points towards the #1 pug on the cap but i have the edi like you said and its says to have it pointed towards the little 6 thats cut in the distributor so that would be close to 180 degrees away from the #1 plug. so is it supposed to be pointing to the #1 plug or the little 6?

mind you b4 all this i bought the 2002 blazer with a 4.3 in it for 200 bucks looks beutiful played with it a little bit cleaned throttle body and put in new pcv valve and just cranked and cranked and cranked and had it started let it run seemed to run pretty good smelled bad gas (put new gas in ) let it sit over night next day started right up ran good drove it then let it sit 24 hours and NOTHING wont start again back to how it was when i bought it then did this work
