Best way to pull a 4.3
Hi Guys,
I was wanting to know how do you pull your motor and how long did it take you to do it.
I recently replaced mine (97 4wd)and I lifted up the motor and pulled the motor mounts off on the motor side, then dropped the motor down and it gave me more room to remove the top four transmission bolts and I also removed the steering shaft for more clearance. It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to have the motor on the ground.
Thanks for any input guys.

i cant believe i didnt go that route i found some info here and in the s10 forum and read the only good way was to raise the body to not only access the top tranny bolts and to gain clearance to remove the motor and i did just that, with a friend the whole removal including raising the body only took a half day and that was with numerous smoke breaks, do you ever have any issues with clearance pulling the motor from its compartment fan off and radiator out ofcourse having not raised the body? or is is not an issue for you with yours being a 91' (that is the older body style right?) because mines a 2000

I always removed the radiator and whole front end(grill, etc) and slide it out the front trans and all. Much easier when you are by yourself.
Ive heard about the body raising. But unless you have some airtools ive done a few body lifts on some older s10 trucks and some of those body mounts WONT budge without some major air working.
