Default Blue smoke

1993 Tahoe V6

I just bought this Blazer so I don't really know what is going on with it.

I checked the compression and had About 150 lbs per cylinder all within 10 lbs of each other.

I have to keep adding coolant every 100 miles or so . I think that the heater core is leaking .
The oil is black and dirty with no signs of water , no rust on dipstick either.

I was leaning towards valve stem seals .
the blazer smokes at stop signs and as it being driven .

I just drove it 800 miles and used very little oil no more than two quarts .

Default RE: Blue smoke

The blue smoke is a sign of oil burning, and the oil being dark black could be because of sludge.

If the heater core is leaking, you will (A)smell antifreeze inside the cab (B) the pass side carpet
might be wet (C) Inside windsheild Foggs.
As far as blue smoke, try checking oil level first, is it overfilled?

It is probably your lower intake manifold gaskets, that's one of the flaws associated with this motor. Easy enough to replace. just time consuming (8-12 hrs.) depending on your mechanical ability. Try the search feature, this topic has been covered many x's over. As far as needing to add 2 qts. of oil in 800 miles, I would say that is a bit much, but not far from ordinary. Search is your friend.

Today I removed all the spark plugs and checked them for fouling.
All the plugs were in top shape as far as coloring.
They were cleaned 800 miles ago. All were dry and no signs of oil on the electrode or ceramic insulator just a little on the threads.

I have been keeping the oil topped on the dip stick.
I will let the level fall a little to see if the smoking stops.
I do keep a close eye on the oil and coolant.

It does smoke a little on start up.

I have been keepin the oil level at the top ma
