bypassing the oil cooler lines....
is it possible with out harming the engine? Mine are leaking and I've heard so much about even new ones eventually leaking.
So I was thinking and I saw a post in the 1st gen that someone bypassed the lines and installed the center screw for the oil filter where the lines begin on the block...

Yeah I did it on my 93. Did it about 2 years ago with no problems. I'm at work now and on my phone so can't post a pic. Google around or ill post the part number tomorrow. Its a $7 part at the dealer that screws right into the block

I'm wondering about heat issues... I saw your post about you using your truck for off roading but how about if one tows with the truck?
But then again the 2wd's have no oil cooler and the filter, tho smaller fits.
The 2wd's and the 4wd's share the same engine, 4.3.
So why should there be a problem with ripping out the oil filter lines and the relocator buying the part to use the block oil filter, you may need to use the 2wd's filter that is smaller.
It would save money and from what I read even new oil lines will leak be it 3-6-9 months later.
What would have to be done is: buy the part from GM to use the block filter, disconnect the oil relocator, disconnect the lines from the rad(buy 2 plugs for the rad so nothing get's into the oil cooler in the rad, intstall the block filter screw and then screw the filter on, done.... From then on filter changes occur there and no oil lines to worry about....
If you look at it there will be 9 places less from where oil will leak...
The block oil filter is not "As Convenient" but I would be willing to give up convenience for a piece of mind and saving money and time....
Any opinions would be appreciated...

I did mine cause the lines were leaking everywhere. When I find the pics I think it has which filter to use too

2001 Blazer LT is different, see pict... No room...I bought a 2wd filter to see and no dice... bringing the filter back to walmart... see 1st picture, the second is a pict of the line going to the block; leaking.... they don't leak bad there is no pool on the skid plate...
When I get extra money I'll have the lines done...

Well I changed my front oil lines today, it wasn't that bad... went to NAPA and bought them. The ones that go to the block look ok, for another time.
Obviously with doing that I did a oil change.
The one that goes to the block doesn't look that bad to do, taking the adaptor off and changing those seals...
