Changing trans fluid and installing deep pan

Did you have to remove the cross member to remove the pan?

I don't think the mechanic did that on this truck. It isn't blocking the pan on this truck and the book doesn't say to do that. I believe the deep pan extends past the crossmember, so there is no way that it could have been touched because the deep pan would not fit. Also the labor charges would likely be alot more if the mechanic did have to remove the crossmember.

However, this truck is a 2nd gen (1998). I noticed you have a 1st gen (1993 in your signature?), so it is possible that you may have to remove the crossmember on your truck to get the pan out.
