converting 2wd to 4wd. advice
Ok so I've picked up a 96 2wd Blazer for $250 off a friend of mine and I'm interested in doing a 4wd conversion along with a straight axle conversion. It's an automatic transmission and I want to keep it auto. Could anyone help me out and list parts I would need excluding the front axles and front axle assembly. I'm guessing I'll need the following: transmission, transfer case, module, switch... I just need everything to be able engage the transfer case, nothing else. I may have to pull wiring from a 4x4 blazer? Vacuum lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If its like the 1st gen,the control arms will be different compared to the 2wd. lower balljoints face opposite directions. that means the 4wd spindle wont fit your 2wd control arms. You cant swap out arms either. frames are different. Lots of fabrication is needed. Sell the blazer for 1500.00 and buy a 4x4. it will be cheaper in the long run.

I'll be doing a straight axle conversion on my Blazer. I'm not interested in stock 4x4 control arms, axles, etc. It's a project vehicle and I just want to know what I need as far as transmission and transfer case/components. I just want to have a working transmission and transfer case! Thanks for your post though!
