Default Dist. or coil trouble..I think?

Ok here is what the truck is doing, oh it's a 95 S-Blazer with 183,000 miles. It seems to have a huge lack of power anywhere below 3,000 rpm's. I was thinking it could be the coil going bad, the ICM not advancing properly or the coil is getting weak. I'm I on the right track or shoud I be looking else where?

Thank you,

Paul

try cleaning your mass air flow sensor gotta take it apart to get at the wire and may have to pick some grime off of it i used a pick and becareful they get pricy i did the full tune up wires, plugs, cap, coil, rotor, fuel filter, and it was still doing it so i mess around with my mass air flow sensor and now i have a new truck

ps i also changed cat and no differance before mass air flow

I didn't think the CPI engines had mass air sensors. I know they have an intake air temp sensor, throttle position sensor and idle air control valve. Am I just missing it? Thank you.

maybe your converter is clogged up. does the exhaust smell like rotten eggs?

my 95 does not have a mass air sensor either......you dhould check your basic tune up parts first. then do a fuel pressure test to see if its with spec of 58 psi or more....also check to see if any vacuum lines are broken or dry rotted. does your radiator come up low every so often?

It could be any of those things mentioned above. But if it is the catalytic converter and easy way to check is hook up a vacuum gauge, start up your blazer and rev the throttle by hand. If the vacuum goes up real fast but goes down slowly then it is most likely the cat. Also if it was the coil or dist I'm pretty sure it would bog down at all speeds.

The cat was replaced before I bought the truck. I will have to check it with the vaccuum gauge anyway just to be sure. There is no rotten egg smell. It has also started stumbling, almost like a miss on lighter excelleration and sometimes during steady driving speed. The fuel pump is new and I have done the full tune up recently. The only thing not stock is that I have a fresh air intake and a turbo muffler.
