Another thing that gave me trouble was the ground connection on the back of both heads. I assumed that it was all #10 wrench size and it turns out it was 5/8 std, plus the bolt was a 3/8 std also.

 

Update:

Motor is in, so far everything seems great! (Knock on wood) had to sacrificed a baby giraffe to the car Gods but they seem mostly pleased.

Except have a Low Current Knock Sensor Bank 1.
Wish I'd known that while I had the motor out.
but if that is the worst thing, guess I'll take it.

Finished last Thursday, driven 150 miles so far.

 

Advice/what I learned.

Do not have to lift the body but I am glad I did. if I had a 4 post lift I'd taken the body completely off.

Second thing, I learned: Protect your fuel lines like your life depends on it. If you don't, you will be kicking your self in the family jewels.

Best advice, 2 essentials that you will want to make sure that you have.
Load leveler for your hoist. ($30 at harbor freight.)
Set of Crows feet wrenches. ($20 for a set of standards and metric at harbor freight.) Specifically 5/8" for the fuel lines.

unbolt the motor mounts from the block before removal.
after you have wrestled and contorted to get the motor mounts out. You can notch the bottom holes of the mount to ease reinstallation. This makes reinstallation take 10 mins per side vs hour per side.
