engine swap
hi im new to the forum. i have just bought a 95 blaze that i recently picked up it didnt run at all but after i got it running its got a nock in the lower end, the other day it finally got really bad. im going to swap out engines and i was woundering if i can swap out with a 94 or 96 with any problems. ive looked at a really good runner but its a 94 but i see the distributor got top mounts and my 95 has got side mounts. any suggestion on what way to go would be great. thanks
btw im talking about a 4.3 cpi vortec (vin. w)

You can use the 94 engine, but things like the distributor will have to be swapped over. With both engines side by side, you should be able to walk around them and see where there are differences. Off the top of my head, I think that most of the differences are in the sensors and what not depending on what part of the 95 model year your truck was produced...
ok that dont sound to bad really, now like sensors and stuff say if the 94 maybe dont have what my 95 does i should be able to just swap it over to the 94 right? and nothing special with the distribtor to swap is there, just asking to make sure cause ive heard from some one that there is more to it than just change it over. and thanks for the the help swart!!
well i did the swap on the engines and installed it. my 95 has got a crank sensor and the 94 didnt have one would this keep me from getting spark at all cause i have none atm i even installed it and dont seem to make a differents i got power going to the coil but no spark. anyone got any ideas , would i need to get a a 94 computer to put in it maybe idk thanks
Not having the crank sensor hooked up will definitely give you problems. If I remember correctly, the crank sensor bolts to the front cover. You should be able to swap the front cover and harmonic balancer and solve your problem. I'm not 100% sure on that since I don't have a 4.3 in mine anymore to take a look at.
yes that is where it is on the bottom of the timing cover. i was able to mount it on there with out switching the cover out. now is it important for the harmonic balancer to be swapt out to? is that got anthging to it that makes the sensor work? like i said i dont know to much about this sensor but from i understand there should be magnet that works with the sensor on the shaft or is that why maybe i need to change tha harmonic balancer as well for it to work? thank you for your help 95_4door!!
