Default Faulty Shifter Cable ?

I have a problem with my shifter cable. I can shift into R, N, OD, D, 1, and 2 just fine. But when Im done driving and go to put it in P the shifter handle just goes up as if nothing is attached. I have to put the E brake on and hand shift it into P. Shifts through gears fine just doesn't up shift back to P and misses every other gear along the way. Also I can't hand shift it back to P if the shifter **** is in the P position.

Judging by how bad that looks, I would highly recommend you replace that cable. vehicle not going into park can cause a major issue if you forget about it one time. I have personally seen vehicles get away from people and know one person that got run over by their own vehicle.
