Default Fuel pump gauge

Hi,

Need some help. Trying to fix my fuel pump gauge reading. Now it is reading completely full (over the max.). Turns out the pink wire from the sending unit was not connected. So I made a wire directly from there to the fuel pump gauge for testing. But whenever turning on the ignition the fuel gauge goes to the max again. I checked the ground on the sending unit and this seems to be correct. So when ignition 12V + ground on gauge are in place gauge goes to the max. Adding the sending unit wire to it does not help. Any ideas? Enclosed also a picture on how I connected it.

Tnx!

Have you checked the float arm inside the tank first? If it is an electrical problem then you have a short somewhere. You say adding the sending unit wire doesn't change it then I would check the gauge ground. If the gauge ground is fine then I think your gauge is toast.
