well gscrippler our problems seem to cause the same symptoms but not have the same problem. I changed the TPS and made sure the connections were clean and it still dosen't run right so if anyone has the same problem with a 1rst generation and knows whats wrong it would be much apreciated if they could tip me off

Thor, I spoke to soon, I ended up having to replace the spider injector unit, truck runs fine now only prob I have now is if i rev idel in park engine seems to shake a little just before returning to normal idel rpm, possible due to an exhaust leak i have.

FinallyReplaced IAC valve and now she runs pretty darn good. Now she is old and runs a little rough and I have an exauhst leak at the muffler so sounds like she's missing but now the shaking engine along with the the running rich is gone. When I pulled the old IAC valve out I tried to move the cone on the end like they say and it was stuck pretty bad.

With these engines sometime they havepesky gremlins hideing everywere, and one problem could point to a certain part but actually be something completely different. So I want to thank everyone for putting up with me and my crazyness for the months it took me to figure out what was wrong with it

I replaced: spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, fuel pump, EGR valve, TPS, IAC, CPI unit, Vacuum hoses,
total:$700 so a simple $70 part eluded me for a long time, but I know with only 79000 miles on it this things going to stick with me well past college

Glad you got it figured out as well Thor. A lot of those things which you replaced probably needed it anyway. Some could have just been cleaned. Others just diagnostic checked and passed by. In the end, you fixed it yourself and have a well running vehicle again.

Yea mine runs alot better now, Still have a slight rough idel at times though If Truck is in park and you rev the idel it will engine shake as the idel comes down to normal rpm if you tap it afew times quick it clears up, I have pulled and cleaned the IAC but thor mentioned something about moving the cone on it, can you explain how to inspect it.

You do not need to move the pintle to clean it. If your idle seems to work properly, then the IAC is working. Typically, carbon will build up and cause the IAC to either become stuck in the bore and/or not allowing it to close all the way.

Ok just wondering, When I pulled the plenum off I Cleaned it up very good, Pulled the IAC cleaned it and the Hole it sits in, As well as the EGR area so all that should be fine.
I think I'll buy some AC delco Plugs wires cap & rotor and see if that clears it up. If not I'll just wait and see if it gets worse and go from there. I also have to change the passanger side Exhaust dounut That could be causing it as well
Thanks

Exhaust leaks can cause a rich condition as the pulled in air will cause an artificial lean condition at the upstream O2 sensor.
