Default hard starting in winter

Hey everyone my 97 chevy blazer starts really hard in the winter, very slow cranking it's to the point that I had to take the battery out every night to turn over the engine. I replaced the battery and had truck coded but nothing came up on the code reader. Just this last summer I had to replace the fuel pump so hoping that would have solved my starting problems but it didn't. My wife tells me that the truck is still doing it. It has very high mileage about to hit 350k but uses no oil so I don't know where to check next to solve my issue. Buddy says it might be my timing chain.
