Default Intake gasket mixing oil/ coolant.

92 Blazer 5.7L 4WD. Ok so i removed a small puddle of fluid from the #1 cylinder corner of my intake manifold at the gas station today. got to work and it was back. After closer examination it definitely seems to be an oil/coolant mix to me. Looks similar to power steering fluid in consistency and is sticky like coolant. Add that smell and there ya have it. My question is this. would the intake manifold gasket produce a leak mixing the two or do i have a mix of the two leaking from the manifold. Head gasket, manifold, or both?
Thanks yall.

Both can do the same...but more than likely it's intake gasket that's leaking. Change the oil into an open pan, if mixing and depending how bad, coolant with flow out first then oil. If it's really bad, then it's milk shake consistency but usually you'll have driveability issues along with that. However, if all is clean oil (or no mix) in pan it leans more towards intake gaskets. Good luck... let us know what you find!

As stated by Cubawashere, they both can do the same. You need to change your oil quickly or take a chance of spinning your bearing in the engine and then having to replace the engine.

i changed the oil about a week ago when i bought it, it needed a filter housing gasket. emptied it and inspected it and everything looked good. no signs of coolant. the dip stick is clean. the radiator doesnt have any chocolate foam. and it passed smog this morning with flying colors too. i did confirm that intake manifold is in fact leaking. brakleened the snot outta it and verified that much. my main concern was wether the intake manifold gasket would create an oil/coolant mix. im leaning away from the head gasket all to gether based on the symptoms ive seen so far.

Great! It does sound like good news, no mixing and I believe you are right. Like I mentioned above Intake gasket leaks really are a common failure, but take care of it sooner than later. Good luck with it all
