intake manifold gasket and whatelse?
Hello All,
I am leaking coolant from the front of the engine.
Right where the intake meets the block.
I know I have to replace the intake manifold gasket.
Since I am taking it down that far, what else should I check/replace.

Ok now this is only my opinion and by no way the way it must be done it just makes sense to me.
1st blow off or clean off the top of the engine real good before disassemble so no or little junk gets into the engine during disassemble.
Ok now since your gonna have the coolant hoses off its a good time to replace all those. And buy a flush and fill kit and install it.
Also since all the coolant will be drained replace the water pump.
And since the distributor will be out replace cap rotor and wires. Dont forget to inspect the distributor gear for wear and if its worn replace the dist with a rebuilt one.
Now dont get cheap and buy the top of the line intake gaskets With metal in them that come with the valve cover gaskets and replace all of those too. Valve covers are so easy to do once the intake is off its ridiculous.
Replace the coolant after a system flush and oil when its all said and done and you should be good to go for a long time.
Just my 2c

well if your taking the water pump off.....the timing components are right behind that. so I would replace timing chain and sprockets, they are a pain to get off but once when you do pop the new ones on a hot plate and once it gets nice and toasty warm (use gloves when handeling!) the sprocket whould just pop right on with no problems
