Default Just bought this 01 4dr 2wd and.......

Here are the symptoms-
Hard to start. If I feather the accelerator just right I can keep it going but it really rough. Flashing SES and multiple misfires across all cylinders during this phase (cold start).
At operating temp it will idle fine. No misfires on any cylinders, no smoke, no noises. Seems completely normal.
Until I attempt to increase RPMs. Then it bogs down and misfires.
Also operating temp never registered above 172, which I thought was odd. And speedo is stuck at 120, but it's like that even with the key out. Probably unrelated.
I looked around in the engine bay in the dark and saw no sparks that would indicate bad plug wires.
CMP retard is -5.7°. But it's-12.7° in my 02 blazer and it runs fine so I don't think that's the main issue.
I'm using dash command to monitor, fyi.
I think the dizzy cap is the obvious place to start. This all smacks of an electrical issue. Ideas/opinions?

I think you know the drill. Seems too lean. But check fuel pressure and compression and firing order before putting any parts on it. Also, have you considered the fuel could be bad or have water in it? Good luck!

They PO said it had been sitting up about 8 months. I'm guessing longer since the tires have dry rot. So yeah, you're probably right about the gas. I'm going to change the fuel filter anyway so when I do that I'll empty the tank just to be sure. Will definitely keep progress posted. Thanks!
